Reading Tutoring Services

Reading education begins in Kindergarten and continues through third grade. After that, students move from learning to read to reading to learn. This is an important timeline as students who are not ready to read to learn by fourth grade will quickly find themselves falling behind their peers.

That is why early intervention is important for children. The sooner problems can be identified and remedied, the better equipped your child will be for a lifetime of reading and learning.

Services for children always begin with a comprehensive assessment and a review of grades and reports from school. This helps form the basis of a learning plan. I believe that a parent should be the child’s first teacher, so all learning plans include activities for the parent and child to do together at home.

For parents who are interested in taking on the challenge themselves, I offer a package that includes a learning plan and materials for the parent to implement on their own with the option for support calls to receive additional assistance.

By the time they reach upper grades, many students have determined that their reading skills are as good as they are going to get just at the time when the greatest demand is being placed on them. The truth is that, whether the problem is fluency or comprehension, reading gains are always possible.

Services for teens begin with a conversation about your reading and learning history as well as an assessment to determine your level of proficiency. Once we have a baseline, we can develop a learning plan to meet your goals.

It’s never too late to learn to read. Whether you are unable to read even simple words or have difficulty understanding more complicated texts, literacy is a skill that can always be developed to improve your understanding of text and ability to write a response.

Services for adults begin with a conversation about your reading and learning history, your reading goals, as well as an assessment to determine your level of proficiency. Once we have a baseline, we can develop a learning plan.
